Scorsese Prepares Dean Martin Movie

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - The Dean Martin biopic being readied for WB by director Martin Scorsese and his "GoodFellas" and "Casino" screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi will hopefully star Tom Hanks as Dean, John Travolta as Frank Sinatra, Hugh Grant as Peter Lawford, Adam Sandler as Joey Bishop and Jim Carrey as Jerry Lewis.
There will be roles also for Sam Giancana, John F. Kennedy, Shirley MacLaine and Jack Entratter, boss of the Sands where the Rat Pack played (and filmed Oceans 11).
"But the movie will be mostly about how Dean Martin grew up as Dino Crocetti, from Steubenville, Ohio, and died as Dino Crocetti," said Pileggi. "Marty is not going to make a superficial biography, you can be sure."
He has interviewed most of the principals in Martin's life, and hopes to include Lewis in that list. After all, Scorsese directed him in "The King of Comedy."
